Workshop: Building the Alliance of Resolution 1325
AWAM foundation held a workshop to build a coalition for Resolution 1325 from 21-22 November 2018 within "Women's Leadership for Peace" project, implemented by Awam Foundation in partnership with Oxfam and YLDF.
The workshop was developed based on the outputs of a series of training activities carried out during 2017 and 2018. The workshop was attended by representatives of government agencies targeted by Awam in previous activities, in addition to the National Committee for Women, the private sector and a number of civil society organizations.
The workshop aimed to:
1- Exchange of experiences and knowledge on building alliances
2- Presentation, discussion and exchange of views on the results of the Yemen Gender Policy Booklet issued by Awam Foundation.
3- Formation of the 1325 coalition and setting its framework.
The workshop was opened by Ms. Ashwaq Shujauddin - Project Manager, who welcomed the participants and stressed the importance of the workshop in establishing and building a coalition for Resolution 1325, pointing to the importance of participation of all actors from government sector and civil society organizations in this workshop.
On the first day, a background on Resolution 1325 was reviewed and the importance of alliances in supporting the peace-building agenda. The Gender Policy Booklet was also reviewed by the Preparation Team.
On the second day, a discussion was held on building coalition of Resolution 1325, the requirements for its construction, and finally the establishment of the coalition framework (vision, mission, general goal, progressive goals) and the formation of a technical committee for it.
