WLP Advisory Board Formation Meeting

 In partnership with Oxfam and YLDF, Awam Foundation organized a workshop to create an advisory board for "Women Leaders for Peace" project, this workshop took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, 17-18 October 2017, in the presence of 18 representatives of civil society organizations working in Peace building and supporting for resolution 1325. The aim of the board is to support the activities of the project, to seek mechanisms to prevent duplication of "women and peace" programs, and to support project partners in influence plans on peace and women's participation at the local and international levels.

The workshop was opened on the first day with facilitator Ahmed Al Abed welcoming the participants and then the Executive Director of Awam Foundation Amal Abdulqadir. On the first day, the roles of the partners in the project were presented by Ms. Fatima Hameed, project manager at Oxfam, Ms. Ashwaq Shujauddin, project manager at Awam Foundation, and finally Ms. Hanaa Moqbl, project assistant at YLDF. Participants in the workshop presented their activities in peace building and supporting resolution 1325, with the aim of knowing where the work areas of other organizations are and seeking mechanisms to prevent duplication in targeted areas

On the second day, the obstacles facing civil society organizations during the implementation of projects  was discussed and reviewed, and what solutions have been taken or proposed by the participants to overcome these obstacles. Finally, they discussed how to form the board and present the roles of the it. In conclusion, the facilitator Ahmed Al-Abed thanked the participants for their active participation in the workshop and Awam foundation for organizing the workshop, and in turn Ms. Ashwaq Shujauddin thanked  Mr. Ahmed for facilitating  the discussions and managing the working groups to get clear outputs, as well as participants from civil society organizations for their effective and meaningful attendance.
